Ralph Bunche
Attendance Policy
In order for your child to
benefit from the Head Start program, daily attendance is
important! It is your responsibility to notify the Ralph
Bunche Center if your child is sick or if your family is
planning to move from the area. Motivate your child to
attend daily.
If your child has trouble
separating from you, school is a good experience to help
your child become more self-confident and independent. The
following procedures will take place when your child is
absent;
- A record of daily
absences is maintained on each child.
- Call us when your
child is absent.
- We are required to
contact you when your child is absent for 3 or more
consecutive days.
- Staff will provide
necessary assistance to the parents in getting the child
back to school.
- Excessive absence will
result in termination from the program. Head Lice can be
successfully treated in less than 3 days. Continued
absence will be considered “excessive”.
- The most common
illnesses that require a child to be absent are:
diarrhea / vomiting fever / rash / coughing / contagious
disease.
- If your child becomes
sick at school or is checked “positive” for Head Lice,
you are required to come to the center to take your
child home.
